Pokemon GO: Groudon Awakens! AR+ and More!

Pokemon GO: Groudon Awakens! AR+ and More!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!! Hope everyone is enjoying today. Thankfully, I’m off work so I can finally catch up on all the news. As you saw from the title we will be discussing Groudon’s arrival to Pokémon GO. So let’s get started.

Groudon is the strongest raid boss so far that’s been introduced with a whopping 51,000 CP level! Especially considering that Ho-Oh’s CP was at the 48K mark. As a Ground type, Groudon is weak to Water, Grass, and Ice types. It has a diverse move set when battling:

-Quick Move: either Mud Shot or Dragon Tail

-Charged Move: either Earthquake, Fire Blast, or Solarbeam

Personally, I would recommend fighting Groudon with dual types like Ludicolo (Water/Grass) and Pelipper (Water/Flying) who can resist 2x’s damage to Solarbeam and Earthquake, and strong buffers who can take damage. The Groudon event will last until January 15, 2018. I wish everyone the best on defeating and capturing this behemoth.

In other news, the winter event is still going on. It brings more spawns of Water and Ice types, as well as, more Pokémon from the Hoenn region. So far, I’ve caught several including Seel, Shellder, Delibird, Swinub, Treecko, Seedot, Snorunt, and Spheal. This winter event will run until January 4, 2018. Special boxes return to the shop with a new item: Star Piece. This item will increase Stardust earned by 50% for 30 minutes. Also, with each Poké Stop spin you will receive one Incubator from the 22nd until today the 25th.

Lastly, the newest update has brought AR+ feature to Pokémon GO. This will allow for a more realistic depiction of Pokémon when using the AR feature. With AR+ turned on, you’ll have to tap the tall grass icons to make the Pokémon appear. You can also move your phone closer to get the full AR experience but, be careful. Pokémon now come with a Proximity Meter, with them becoming more aware of your presence. If the meters fills up completely, the Pokémon will flee. However, when that happens you can tap the grasses again to see if it will appear again. I believe this will make the app more interactive and help get back some of its users.

That’s all for Pokémon GO news. As always, good luck trainers! Enjoy the holiday season!

Countdown to ORAS

Just one week before Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire come out!! After playing the demo for so long it’s about time too. I can’t wait to start playing and explore the new aspects of the game. As with most games I’m going with a water starter, so Mudkip it is ^_^ I wondering about a few things though. For example, is the gym leader lineup going to be the same as the original or if Wallace will be at the Pokemon League this time around? Also, how does Rayquaza mega evolve? Those and more…but we shall see.

-Kyogre, you will be mine once again… lol

Just 2 More Months…

It’s almost here. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is just 2 months away for the US release; they’re already available in Japan so if you have a Japanese copy, lucky you. We’ve got more info about Primal Groudon and Kyogre. First off, their respective abilities: Primal Groudon has the ability “Desolate Land” which causes heavy sunlight, it also prevents weather changing moves (like hail or rain dance) and evaporates all Water-type moves meaning Water-type moves have NO EFFECT! This ability remains active until Primal Groudon is switched out. Primal Kyogre’s ability is “Primordial Sea” and, like Groudon’s, prevents weather changing moves/abilities. It also blocks all Fire-type moves! So basically, in their primal forms Groudon has eliminated its weakness to water meaning only Ground-type moves will be super effective and Kyogre completely douses fire for good. Next on the list are their new special moves: Groudon now knows Precipice Blades which looks like a bunch of spikes rising from the earth that jab at the opponent. Kyogre gets Origin Pulse which appears to be this mystical formation of water that blasts the opponent. Both of these moves hits multiple enemies so watch out!

In other news, more on Team Magma and Team Aqua. Seems like each team has 2 new distinguished admins while the rest of both teams looks pretty much the same. Maxie and Archie appear to remain the same as well. But in a another twist, they both have a Pokémon who can mega evolve: Camerupt for Maxie and Sharpedo for Archie.

There’s still more. Do you remember the frail kid named Wally from the previous versions? The one you had to fight before getting to the end of Victory Road? Well he makes a comeback with his new Gallade… and it can mega evolve too! So now, Gallade gets its own Mega Evo. Check out serebii.net for all the info.
