Soon…….

Soon…….

Hey everyone who still follows me!

I’m somewhat back, just letting you know I’m still alive here. I’ll still try to post when I can, though it won’t be as often as before. Work and life have been taking their toll on me so it’s been a challenge to come up with new content to post. However, I love this site I’ve created and am a die hard Pokémon fan so I will continue forward somehow. Thank you for reading. Also, I’m excited for Sword and Shield coming out later this year.

#SobbleSquad

With that I only have one more thing to say: Soon………

Playing the Catch Up Game! Brief Hiatus

Hello readers. I do apologize for not posting the last 2 months. Life’s been even more hectic currently and I’ve been bouncing around trying to juggle everything. For now I will be on hiatus until things die down and I’m able to post interesting topics regularly. Be on the lookout for topics such as “Pokémon Judges” and “Pokémon Coloseum/XD overview.”

I won’t leave you with nothing though, so here’s a quick recap of news regarding Pokémon GO. Rayquaza has started spawning as the latest legendary Raid Boss with a CP of 45468 (surprisingly lower than Kyogre’s, but Rayquaza does have a lower defense stat). Here’s a breakdown of what we have:

-Quick moves: Dragon Tail, Air Slash

-Charged moves: Outrage, Aerial Ace, Ancient Power

-Type effectiveness: Dragon, Fairy, Ice, Rock

-Good Counters against Rayquaza: Lapras, Dragonite, Articuno, Tyranitar, Gardevoir, Salamence, Walrein, Kyogre

384Rayquaza_AG_anime_2

The 2 moves you need to be very wary of are Ancient Power, which can crush your Ice types, and Outrage, which will annihilate your Dragon types. Best of luck trainers in your battles. This Raid Boss event will last until March 16, 2018.

The next Community Day event will occur on February 24th with increase spawns of Dratini. Now these Dratini won’t have some exclusive move like with Surfing Pikachu or special stats. However, if you have a Dragonair and evolve into Dragonite on that day, it will know the move Draco Meteor!  You will also get 3x as much Stardust per capture and Lure Modules will last for 3 hours.

Pokemon-go-community day-dratini

As of now, 19 new Hoenn Pokémon have made their appearance known:  Taillow, Swellow, Wingull, Pelipper, Surskit, Masquerain, Volbeat, Illumise, Swablu, Altaria, Castform, Tropius, Chimecho, Bagon, Shelgon, Salamence, Beldum, Metang and Metagross. Only a few others have yet to be released. Also, Plusle and Minun are no longer region variants. Another thing to note is that when you catch Castform it is stuck in its current form and won’t be able to change. This meaning that if you catch Castform while it is in its rain form it will remain in this form no matter what the weather changes to after. Kinda sucks but oh well. So my normal state Castform is stuck like that forever.

I have to mention something about Swablu that I still find rather odd…. I understand why Magikarp and Wailmer would require 400 candies to evolve given that their evolutions are powerful and quite massive but, why does this apply to Sawblu as well?! Why do I need 400 candies to get Altaria? I’ve explored various sites including Reddit and GameFaqs and still couldn’t find a valid answer… My advice to you would be to just have Swablu as your buddy for a while and just take full advantage on days where it and other Flying types spawn increasingly. As for me, so far I have about 69 Swablu candies…a long way to go…. Lastly, new Team Rocket and Rainbow Rocket clothing options have been added. Be sure to check them out.

There’s not much important news regarding the upcoming Pokémon RPG for the Switch, so with that I’ll end it here. That’s all the info for now folks. Stay tuned for later posts once I’m back from my break. As always thank you for reading and take care trainers!!

Updates: Pokken, Detective, and GO!

Hey everyone. I know it’s a little late to say this but Happy New Year! Hope your year is going well so far. This post will just cover the news on Pokkén Tournament DX, Detective Pikachu and Pokémon GO. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

Right off the bat, we’ve got 2 new contenders for Pokkén Tournament DX from the Battle Pack DLC. The first pack contains Aegislash, the “Royal Sword” Pokémon which comes out January 31st. Its Support Pokémon are Mimikyu and Rayquaza. Mimikyu inflicts status effects as it attacks, while Rayquaza mega evolves and causes massive damage but can only be used once per battle.

pokken-aegislash

The next DLC pack introduces Blastoise, the “Shellfish with cannons” Pokémon and becomes live on March 23rd. Its Support Pokemon are Mew and Celebi.

Both packs will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop for $14.99 US (currency depending on your region). Here’s the trailer link. More info to come later on.

Dectective Pikachu is on the scene! Drinking coffee, taking names, and solving mysteries all at the same time. The full retail copy of the Detective Pikachu game is set to release March 23, 2018 in Japan, Europe, and North America. This package apparently contains the first game that was launched last year and additional content not shown in that first reveal. A special Detective Pikachu amiibo is also being released the same day. Check out the latest trailer.

Lastly, we have Pokemon GO news. The Groudon raid battle event will end January 15th. With Groudon out of the way, make room for Kyogre! Yup, Kyogre crashes in with a whopping possible CP level of 51,000. Here’s a breakdown of its move set from RankedBoost.com:

-Quick Move: either Waterfall or Dragon Tail

-Charged Move: Hydro Pump, Blizzard, or Thunder

Kyogre

Best Pokémon to go against Kyogre include Electric types, dual types such as Grass/Water, and those with high Defense stats. This raid event lasts from January 12th-February 14th 2018.

Niantic has also announced a Community Day event for players on January 10th. On this day trainers will be able to catch special Pokémon including Pikachu with access to the move Surf. That’s right, we finally get Surfing Pikachu! The event also awards extra EXP. This event is also time specific depending on your region:

-Asia Pacific region: 12pm-3pm JST

-Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: 10am-1pm UTC

-North America, South America, and Greenland: 11am-2pm PST

For me and my east coast friends that would be 2pm-5pm EST.

That’s all for now. As always good gaming trainers!

News Updates…and Zeraora?

So this will be a quick post. Just a quick overview of what’s already happening and other things to come. Let’s get started then.

First off, the newest Pokémon movie is set to release in July 2018 in Japanese theaters. Its official name hasn’t been revealed yet but it does continue where the previous I Choose You movie left off. Ash still wears the same hat from that previous film. Also, it features a new female character. Here’s the link to the trailer. English translations will be made soon.

Next up, my progress in Pokémon Ultra Sun. Currently, I’m grinding before I take on Team Rainbow Rocket at the Aether Paradise. I got a good look at their teams and realized I need a bit more training. On the plus side, I caught Zygarde last night. Still have to catch Necrozma though. At the moment here’s my current team:

-Primarina lvl 76

-Vikavolt lvl 75

-Lycanroc (Dusk Form) lvl 74

-Noivern lvl 73

-Arbok lvl 74

-Type: Null lvl 69

Also, the Ultra Beast Poipole that you received from the Ultra Recon Squad can evolve into the Poison/Dragon type Naganadel. Once you teach Poipole Dragon Pulse and level it up, it will evolve. This is the only Ultra Beast to have an evolution.

804Naganadel

The last piece of news I have is about Zeraora. This is the specific event only Pokémon for Ultra Sun and Moon. Not much is known right now. However, here’s what we do know:

zeraora

Zeraora is an Electric type with the ability Volt Absorb. It is Genderless (as are most legendaries) with a high Speed stat. It stands at just 4’11” and weighs on average 98.1 lbs, although it’s just relative since Pokédex entries aren’t the most realistic at times. Zeraora can only be received in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and is known as the “Thunderclap Pokémon.” Zeraora’s main form of attack are its sharp claws. In its shiny form its fur is white as opposed to yellow. Its official dex entries are as follows:

-Ultra Sun: It electrifies its claws and tears its opponents apart with them. Even if they dodge its attack, they’ll be electrocuted by the flying sparks

-Ultra Moon: It approaches its enemies at the speed of lightning, then tears them limb from limb with its sharp claws

Zeraora’s event release date is still unknown but be on the lookout. It might quite possibly appear in an upcoming film.

That’s all the news for now. This post took longer than expected, sorry I was writing while watching the Santa Clause 2. Thank you for reading and see you next time. Happy Holidays!

Pokemon GO: Groudon Awakens! AR+ and More!

Pokemon GO: Groudon Awakens! AR+ and More!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!! Hope everyone is enjoying today. Thankfully, I’m off work so I can finally catch up on all the news. As you saw from the title we will be discussing Groudon’s arrival to Pokémon GO. So let’s get started.

Pokemon-Go-Groudon-892618

Groudon is the strongest raid boss so far that’s been introduced with a whopping 51,000 CP level! Especially considering that Ho-Oh’s CP was at the 48K mark. As a Ground type, Groudon is weak to Water, Grass, and Ice types. It has a diverse move set when battling:

-Quick Move: either Mud Shot or Dragon Tail

-Charged Move: either Earthquake, Fire Blast, or Solarbeam

Personally, I would recommend fighting Groudon with dual types like Ludicolo (Water/Grass) and Pelipper (Water/Flying) who can resist 2x’s damage to Solarbeam and Earthquake, and strong buffers who can take damage. The Groudon event will last until January 15, 2018. I wish everyone the best on defeating and capturing this behemoth.

In other news, the winter event is still going on. It brings more spawns of Water and Ice types, as well as, more Pokémon from the Hoenn region. So far, I’ve caught several including Seel, Shellder, Delibird, Swinub, Treecko, Seedot, Snorunt, and Spheal. This winter event will run until January 4, 2018. Special boxes return to the shop with a new item: Star Piece. This item will increase Stardust earned by 50% for 30 minutes. Also, with each Poké Stop spin you will receive one Incubator from the 22nd until today the 25th.

Lastly, the newest update has brought AR+ feature to Pokémon GO. This will allow for a more realistic depiction of Pokémon when using the AR feature. With AR+ turned on, you’ll have to tap the tall grass icons to make the Pokémon appear. You can also move your phone closer to get the full AR experience but, be careful. Pokémon now come with a Proximity Meter, with them becoming more aware of your presence. If the meters fills up completely, the Pokémon will flee. However, when that happens you can tap the grasses again to see if it will appear again. I believe this will make the app more interactive and help get back some of its users.

Pokemon-Go-AR-Awareness

-Example of Proximity Awareness

That’s all for Pokémon GO news. As always, good luck trainers! Enjoy the holiday season!

Pokemon GO: Hoenn Roars In!

Hey everyone! Before I announce the new updates, there’s one piece of news I’d like to share. The Ho-Oh Raid Battle event has been extended for 2 more days, now ending on December 14th at 9pm UTC. Once again, good luck capturing this legendary.

Without further ado… The time has come: Hoenn makes its presence known loud and clear. That’s right, more Pokémon from generation 3 will start appearing later this month. I’m pretty sure you all have noticed this because of the new Christmas loading screen which features several Pokémon, including Plusle, Minun, Spheal, and Seedot.

pokemon go_gen 3 screen

Now it was revealed that only 50 of the total 135 Pokémon will be available during the upcoming launch. We can assume the other 85 will be released in the coming months. That’s not all… The app is now introducing weather pattern features. Similar to the weather patterns in the R/S/E games this feature can influence battles in interesting ways, such as increasing attack power or speed for certain types or making certain type moves more or less effective than they would normally. This will be true for Pokémon GO, as certain moves will have greater or lesser effect depending on weather effects. In addition, the changing weather will also play a part in what types of Pokémon appear more in some areas. I believe this will help make Pokémon GO feel more engaging and interactive. Here’s a breakdown of which types appear in abundance during a weather condition:

-Rain: Water, Electric, and Bug types appear more; Higher CP

-Fog: Dark and Ghost types appear more; Higher CP

-Snow: Ice and Steel types appear more; Higher CP

-Windy: Flying, Dragon, and Psychic types appear more; Higher CP

-Sunny: Fire, Grass, and Ground types appear more; Higher CP

-Cloudy: Fairy, Fighting, and Poison types appear more; Higher CP

-Partly Cloudy: Normal and Rock types appear more; Higher CP

-Clear: Grass, Ground, and Fire types appear more; Higher CP

Whether Niantic decides to apply this feature according to actual weather conditions in your area or have its own weather managing device is up for debate. It’s also quite possible that more stardust can be obtained during these effects. The latest update also includes a Battle Party section where you can create up to 5 parties for raid battles. This is located in the Pokémon icon section. It’s a convenient feature and so far, I’ve made 2 parties: Main and Tank teams. Tank obviously meaning my bulkier Pokémon with high defense stats.

In one of my previous posts I mentioned the idea of Delibird being available to catch soon (makes sense since it’s the holiday season), and I’m glad I was right. I also hope more Ice types show up in my area. Living in south Florida doesn’t help increase your Ice type count very much lol.

In other side news, Ryan Reynolds has be confirmed to voice Pikachu in the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie. I’m not disappointed in the acting choice but I would’ve liked to have someone like Danny DeVito or Hugh Jackman doing the voice acting. You get it where I’m going with this right? Someone with a eccentric groggy voice, almost like the mobster bosses from classic 50’s mafia movies. I do have some hopes for this movie since the story is written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (creator of Gravity Falls). Anyways here’s a link to the article. That’s all the new I have for now, stay tuned!

Pokemon GO: Ho-Oh Has Arrived!

Pokemon GO: Ho-Oh Has Arrived!

Congratulations Trainers! Collectively we have reached the 3 billion capture challenge in Pokémon GO! I would like to thank everyone who participated in this challenge, whether you caught just 1 Rattata or multiple Spinarak. The reward for completing this Gold Tier event was the release of Farfetch’d everywhere and Kangaskhan in East Asia.

Ho-Oh

As an added bonus, Ho-Oh has finally made its appearance in the game! A Raid Boss with over 48,000 CP and a diverse move set, this Pokémon will present a difficult challenge for players. The deadline makes this even tougher. The Ho-Oh event lasts until December 12th (my birthday oddly enough), so that gives us a mere 2 weeks to catch it. Being a Fire/Flying type, Ho-Oh is weak to Electric, Rock, and Water type moves. Type-wise it sounds like an easy plan: assemble only those types and you win… Well, as we already know,  legendary Pokémon won’t be defeated that easily. Ho-Oh also has access to the move Solarbeam which is super effective against Water and Rock types. Not to mention its signature move Sacred Fire (it doesn’t have it when you fight it thankfully). I personally haven’t fought Ho-Oh yet…wish me luck.  I have provided a list of the possible moves it can use during battle:

-Quick Moves: Steel Wing or Extrasensory

-Charged up Moves: Fire Blast, Solarbeam, or Bravebird

There are some Pokémon that can make the battle a little less intimidating, here are some good picks and their potential:

-Gyarados: Water/Flying type. Resistance to Fire. Takes 1x damage to Solarbeam

-Vaporeon: Water type. Resistance to Fire and Steel

-Suicune: Water type. Resistance to Fire and Steel. Legendary Pokemon. High Stats

-Politoed: Water type. Resistance to Fire and Steel

-Feraligatr: Water type. Resistance to Fire and Steel

-Zapdos: Electric/Flying type. Resistance to Flying and Steel. Legendary Pokemon. High Stats

-Raikou: Electric type. Resistance to Flying and Steel. Legendary Pokemon. High Stats

-Jolteon: Electric type. Resistance to Flying and Steel

-Rhydon: Rock/Ground type. Resistance to Fire and Flying. High Defense

-Golem: Rock/Ground type. Resistance to Fire and Flying. High Defense

-Dragonite: Dragon/Flying type. Resistance to Fire. High Stats

-Tyranitar: Rock/Dark type. Resistance to Fire and Flying. High stats

-Snorlax: Normal type. High Defense

-Ampharos: Electric type. Resistance to Flying and Steel

-Mewtwo: Psychic type. High Stats. And, well…because Mewtwo

Good luck trainers in defeating and hopefully catching the “Guardian of the skies.”

Pokemon Ultra Sun: Manny’s Progress

Pokemon Ultra Sun: Manny’s Progress

Hey ppl! This will be a quick post going over my experience playing through Ultra Sun and a few changes I’ve noticed.

As you already know, Water types have always been my favorite and, in a game that culminates all 20 years of Pokémon, I figured this one would be no different. I chose Popplio as my starter. Currently, I’ve defeated 2 Totems, cleared 1 Grand Trial, and 2 trials on Akala Island. I’m on my way to Lush Jungle for Mallow’s Trial.

Now, the games have been out for about a week now but still have to warn those who haven’t played yet. Warning, SPOILERS are coming! Anyways, unlike in Sun and Moon the second totem you must face isn’t Wishiwashi (School Form), instead it’s Araquanid with a boost in Speed. Its Ally Pokémon are Dewpider and Masquerain. Be ready because Araquanid holds a Wacan berry which weakens one Electric type move; caught me off guard when I fought it. It also loves to use the move Bubble to reduce your team’s Speed.  Also, in Kiawe’s Trial, the totem is Alolan Marowak with the Ally Pokémon being Salazzle. As an added note, be on the lookout for Totem Stickers. Collecting enough will give you access to your own Totem-sized Pokémon.

In one of my previous posts I mentioned the presence of Team Skull as being a potential ally to your travels and not an antagonist. Well I was sorta wrong, Team Skull grunts still act the same way as before. Maybe later on Guzma will have a change of heart and aid you in the final battles, after battling him a few times. If you want to know more, here’s the link.

One last thing, here’s my current team:

-Brionne lvl 29

-Charjabug lvl 27

-Rockruff, Dusk lvl 27

-Lopunny lvl 26

-Nova (Noibat) lvl 26

-Arbok lvl 27

Hope the rest of you are enjoying your journey! See you next time!

Pokemon GO: Global Challenge!

Pokemon GO: Global Challenge!

Hey everyone. I know I’m late to the party. The Pokémon GO global catch event has already started and will continue until the end of the month. Just another recap explaining what’s going on and my input. So without further ado, let’s get it on!

pokemon-go-travel

Beginning November 20, 2017 (yeah, like a week ago) trainers from around the world will gather to capture as many Pokémon as possible to receive some awesome rewards. There are 3 levels or tiers to be completed: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Bronze Tier is achieved after 500 million Pokémon are caught, Silver Tier is after 1.5 billion are caught, and 3 billion caught for Gold Tier. As of today, we have reached the Silver Tier!! That’s right, collectively we have captured over 1.5 billion Pokémon!!! Congratulations trainers! Onward to Gold!

Now onto the prizes. The rewards for each tier are listed below:

-Bronze Tier: All trainers receive double XP, Lure Modules last for 6 hours, and more Pokémon will appear globally.

-Silver Tier: Includes Bronze Tier rewards along with double Stardust and even more Pokémon appearing.

-Gold Tier: Includes Silver Tier rewards, Farfetch’d will appear globally for 48 hours and Kangaskhan will appear in East Asia for 48 hours.

That’s quite a haul! Especially important as Farfetch’d and Kangaskhan normally can’t be caught outside of Asia and Oceania respectively. Be sure to follow all the action through the  Pokémon GO Travel video series. According to Pokémon Company, Pokémon GO Travel will be “taking a diverse group of trainers from around the world to Japan to participate in the first ever Global Catch Challenge.” This event concludes today, November 26th, and coincides with the Safari Zone event happening in Tottori, Japan. There’s still time to catch Farfetch’d and many other Pokémon, so go out and catch ’em all!

Changes to Pokemon GO! And More Part 2

Changes to Pokemon GO! And More Part 2

So this is going to be a brief recap entry. I’ll just be going over the few updates to the Pokémon GO app and a few other events I left out on my previous post.

The most notable change is regarding Raid Bosses. As you’ve seen already new Raid Bosses have appeared, such as Sableye and Nidoking, and others have disappeared, including Quilava and Muk. The Legendary roster has also shifted. Suicune is now loose in North America, Entei roams free in Asia and Asia Pacific, and Raikou takes residence in Europe. This event is set to end November 30th, so get them while you can! Lastly, the time limit has decreased from 1 hour to 45 minutes for raids.

In addition, I finally managed to hatch a Porygon!

Porygon pokemon go_Manny12K

My actual image from Pokémon GO

Speaking of apps, a new app has just revealed called Pikachu Talk. This allows you to use Amazon Alexa and Google Home to talk to Pikachu. It’s a free app and will be available in Japan later this year and internationally in 2018. We can expect a lot of talking to be going on after release.

pikachu_talk_app

Next up is Global Link events. I usually don’t cover these, but figured I might as well today. Following the release of Ultra Sun and Moon, if players sign up before January 30th they will receive a serial code for a Master ball. Also, the first Global Mission has be revealed. By November 28th players must collectively capture 10,000,000 Pokemon. If successful, players will win 2,000 festival coins. If not, 1,000 festival coins will be given. Those who already have a Global Link account will receive double the reward. As a reminder from November 10th-17th Global Link will be undergoing maintenance. Due to this, “functionalities such as the QR Code Rental feature, Online Competitions, and Ratings Battles will not be available during that time” (NintendoLife.com). This update is in preparation for the new games, so please be patient. The time will come….

Finally, the shiny Silvally event is coming to end next week. The event gives you a level 100 Silvally via serial code at different stores depending on your region. The North American distribution will end November 13th and you can get the codes from Gamestop. Here’s a list of where to get this Silvally globally and when the event is over:

-Germany, Gamestop Nintendo Zone until November 16th
-France, Micromania until November 16th
-Italy, Gamestop until November 16th
-Sweden, Gamestop until November 16th
-The Netherlands, Game Mania Nintendo Zone until November 16th
-Belgium, Nintendo Zone & FNAC, Game Mania & Smartoys until November 16th
-US, Gamestop until November 13th
-Canada, EB Games until November 13th
-Australia, EB Games until November 13th

Silvally arrives with the ability RKS System and holding a Gold Bottle Cap. Its moves are Multi-attack, Parting Shot, Scary Face, and Punishment.

That’s it for now. See you guys next time!
